About Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down
Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down was created around the time Phil Kowalski was graduating from Boston College in the spring of 2009. It was a fun little side project where Phil could comment on things in the news, share things he discovered online, and give his opinion with anyone who was interested (read: nobody). This kept Phil entertained and connected to the outside world when he wasn’t applying for jobs after graudation. Phil eventually got his first grown-up job as an account coordinator at Polar Design, but decided to keep the blog up and running so that both of his readers could keep up with what he was interested in (Hi Mom and Dad!).
Not all the credit belongs to Phil, as there have been several contributors over the short lifespan of Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down, including many of his close friends. As the contributors’ interests waxed and waned, the blog solidified its shape in the fall of 2009 with Phil and his college roommate Tom O’Donnell doing most of the writing.
