Love this video from The SMBC Theater called Graphs vs. Theater. As someone who has a love of statistics AND drama, it is so hilarious to see them go toe to toe in the form of a couple breaking up. The ending made me laugh so hard.

Their other videos are great too, but this is still my favorite! See some of their other videos here: http://www.smbc-theater.com/.

Here’s a funny parody of LeBron James’s Rise commercial from this past summer featuring Brett Favre:

Here is the original LeBron James commercial for context:

As someone who has a moderate amount of technology experience, I’ve definitely felt frustrated watching other people searching the web, typing the url into the search bar or copy and pasting by using the mouse and going up to “Edit” instead of using the keyboard shortcuts. It’s not wrong per say, but this video describes pretty well how it makes me feel:

Based on the original comic by NeonNoodle and animated by Guy Collins.

Thumbs Up- The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks

I have never been a stickler for grammar, since like most of us, I have occasionally used effect instead of affect or used the passive voice (yes I can admit it!). But there is just something about the misuse of quotation marks that add an extra twist of hilarity that other grammar mistakes just don’t have.

Trust me I'm a "doctor."

Sorry, this food is just decoration.

Yeah, I don't want a job that badly.

This blog has a lot of examples to work with, so you will not be disappointed, check it out at: http://www.unnecessaryquotes.com/.

Kanye West Tweets with The New Yorker are Dope! – Thumbs Up

Last year, hip-hop artist Kanye West made the news for reasons that no one would be proud of.  He jumped on stage during the MTV Video Music Awards interrupting Taylor Swift while she was accepting her award for “Best Female Music Video” and uttered those words that will forever be remembered (and mimicked in multiple different ways):

“Yo Taylor…I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!”

Most recently, Kanye West jumped on another stage to display his rants: Twitter.  And, the great thing about it is that Kanye tweets just as you would expect him to talk.  Nothing changes.  You can follow him at @kanyewest and see for yourself.

Well, with the new Twitter account and the 140 characters of gold that Kanye gives to the world each time he tweets, comedy duo Paul and Storm decided to use that gold and turn it into comedy gold.  How did they do that?  By taking various Kanye West tweets and using them as captions to a number of The New Yorker comics.  You can see a few good ones below or a whole slew of them here.  You can also see future ones posted on twitter by following the hashtag #kanyenewyorkertweets.

It’s no surprise that we are obsessed with the current Old Spice campaign.  It looks like BYU’s library also enjoys the commercials.  Check out their parody:

Ben Folds Plays an Ode to Merton – Thumbs Up

Last week, I posted about Merton the improv piano player who used Chat Roulette to improvise songs about the people he saw.  It’s safe to say that that video went viral pretty fast.  So fast that superstar piano player Ben Folds–who dabbles a little bit in improv as well–created an Ode to Merton at his concert in Charlotte, North Carolina.  With his laptop on the piano and a webcam placed in the same location that Merton placed his, Ben Folds crafted short piano pieces with his unsuspecting Chat Roulette partners as the focal point.  Needless to say, that would have been one crazy exciting concert to go to (except all of the crude videos that may have shown up on the big screen).  I wonder if other celebrities or musicians will use Chat Roulette in hopes of making a viral video.

Improv Piano Player Dazzles on Chat Roulette – Thumbs Up

Unless you have been living under a rock or in a cave for the past two to three months, then you’ve obviously have heard of-and maybe have participated in-the new Internet sensation that is “Chat Roulette”.  Developed by a 17 year old Russian boy, Chat Roulette is a random video chat room where once connected you are paired up with a random person anywhere in the world.  You then can choose to chat with your pairing or go on to a new person.  Notorious for its interesting concept, Chat Roulette is even more notorious for the people you may encounter.  Stories have been told of older men sitting at their desk with a blanket over their lap asking to masturbate with the person on the other side.  Other stories have reminisced women showing their boobs for split seconds.  And, yet some more stories have shared even weirder encounters and even fouler humor.

Finally, someone has taken Chat Roulette and used it for good.  Known only as “Merton”, this young fellow dazzles his unsuspecting partners with improv piano playing.  Tickling the ivories, Merton sings about whatever he sees.  A joy to watch, I hope he tapes more of his improv encounters.
